The free medical outreach, sponsored by the Executive Secretary of the Bureau for Mines and Solid Minerals, Hon. Stephen Uta, for the people of Ikyurav-Ya in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, came to a conclusion on Friday, October 24, 2025.
According to the records provided by the Medical Team Lead, Dr. Thaddeus Aende, the five-day medical outreach recorded two hundred and seventy (270) major and minor surgeries, which were conducted successfully without any casualties.
Speaking to newsmen at the end of the exercise, Dr. Aende further revealed that over four thousand (4,000) vulnerable people were seen and administered medications for various conditions; eight hundred (800) reading glasses were given out to patients with eye problems.
He stated further that one thousand and seventy (1,070) people were screened for hepatitis B and C, and vaccinations were done against hepatitis B for deserving ones; six hundred and twenty-eight (628) women were screened for cervical cancer, while over fifty (50) referrals were made, and Hon. Uta Stephen graciously accepted to take care of the medical bills.
According to the sponsor, Hon. Stephen Uta, the outreach, which started in Shangev-Ya and then moved to Turan and Ikyurav-Ya, is designed to cover all parts of Kwande Local Government, with the schedule for Nanev to be announced in due time.
